Mark Gilliland's design expertise and his personal commitment to my landscape renovation make it easy to recommend him whole-heartedly. It was evident he had listened to me when I saw his design ideas and the plantings he recommended for my property. Mark paid attention to issues that needed correction, like drainage, and came up with creative solutions. He recommended an installation contractor, who was terrific. He supervised the project so I knew someone was always looking out for my interests. As for service, he arrived for spot-checks with trowel in hand, just in case adjustments had to be made -- truly the mark of a professional committed to delivering an excellent result. I am thrilled with the transformation of my landscaping, and was lucky to find a designer who became a partner in the process.Gloria Fusillo return to top |
Historical Society
When the Irvington Historical Society decided to renovate the 1853 McVickar House and make it into a History Center and headquarters, Mark Gilliland volunteered to design historically appropriate landscaping. His design was well researched and accurate, and also met our modern needs, including wheelchair access. Mark is accommodating and very pleasant to work with.He patiently reworked the designs because of changes made by the contractors, has always been available for consultation and was happy to pitch in with a shovel when needed. He is a valuable friend to us.Betsy Wilson return to top |

Many thanks to Mark Gilliland for all his efforts on our landscaping project here at Bridge Street Properties. Mark understood the issues of making our unique riverfront environment work for professional tenants and their guests. His designs are beautiful as well as practical and best of all, they came in on time and on budget. It truly was a pleasure to work with Mark. He was always available to answer questions, came up with new imaginative ideas, and took the time to train our staff. He was easy to work with and generous with his time. Now that the second phase is completed and we've seen the rebirth of phase one, we have a greater appreciation for Mark's selection of plants. The placement and mix of shapes and colors is spectacular. We could not be more pleased with our new look. Mark understood our vision and helped transform our riverfront into a place of elegant beauty and serenity. Andrew C. Lyons return to top |

The garden(s) are really nice. The front of the house looks great. It is wonderfully wild looking, and I love walking through the overgrown flowers. I've seen some great butterflies on the bushes of the same name, and my preying mantis egg cases hatched a few weeks ago... I was lucky to have noticed them hatching. It's ingenious how they climb out and grab a bungee cord like you said. Now I've had the chance to see them that small too. Amazing. I'm glad we worked together on this landscape project. It's something I'm happy about every day when I see it. This is truly a groovy garden!
